Emily Sparkes (b. 1992, Worcester, England) lives and works in London. Her practice reflects a keen interest in painting and its relationship with other knowledge systems. Characterised by shifts in process, surface, and reference, her work intertwines the pictorial with gently funny doodles and common craft materials to explore the connection between the material and the rite.

Emily completed her PhD in Fine Art Research at the Royal College of Art in 2023. More recently, she has been investigating the place where she was born, further extending her practice into storytelling and installation.
